Wow. 364 days later and the Penguins are Stanley Cup champions again. It feels pretty damn surreal. There were many times throughout this cup run where everyone thought this team was dead – Kris Letang undergoing season ending surgery, Sidney Crosby getting a concussion in the Washington series, double OT in Game 7 vs the Sens. The list goes on and on. Just when you thought it was over, the Pens would inevitably bounce right back and give us that belief again. The belief that this team had the ability to do something no other team has ever done in the NHL salary cap era: win back-to-back Stanley Cups. And damn it, this team got it done.

This time around it took a true collective effort to earn 16 wins. It took Marc Andre Fleury dancing head against the Caps. It took a rookie in Jake Guentzel to score an NHL-leading 13 goals in the playoffs. It took countless guys that began the year in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton to step in and fill roles for regulars such as Nick Bonino, Tom Kuhnhackl, Patric Hornqvist, Carl Hagelin, etc. The route to Stanley was a hell of a lot harder this year, but at the end of the day, it was well worth the panic attacks and hemorrhoids. The Penguins are Stanley Cup champs again, and no one can take that away from us.

I had no idea where this blog was going to take me because I wanted to put something into words while the emotions were still fresh. My favorite team in all of sports just won the Stanley Cup again, and this feeling I’m experiencing right now will never, ever get old. I’ll probably watch the final seconds of the game along with Sid hoisting the cup over and over and over again for the next 48 hours.

In between cumming in my pants to these videos, I’ll do my best to sneak in a few blogs. I want to say a quick thank you to all of you that have followed along with me this postseason. Never in my wildest imagination would I have ever imagined I’d be blogging the hell out of a Stanley Cup run in my first year of blog life. It was exhausting as fuck at times, but damn it, it was well worth it.

P.S. – Quick little shout out to me for live blogging the shit out of this game tonight (follow me on twitter if you haven’t already, by the way). I was sick as fuck last night breaking fevers left and right, and I still felt like a dog turd today. But the thing with guys like me and the rest of those that dawn the black and gold, we don’t give up when the cards are stacked against us. We put on the hard hats, carry the lunch pails, and get to work. Guys like me have your back. Now if you’d all be so kind, say a quick prayer for me because I’m going to get like 4 hours of sleep and be brain dead for work tomorrow. Thoughts and prayers for Peep.
