TMZ – Darrelle Revis is adamant the voice captured on video bragging about knocking out 2 guys in Pittsburgh over the weekend is NOT him … and his lawyers say they can prove it.

TMZ Sports posted video from the aftermath of the incident … showing 2 men knocked out cold while an unidentified man admits, “I knocked both these motherf**kers out.”

Now, Revis’ attorneys — Robert Del Greco Jr. and Mark Fiorilli — issued a statement saying the NFL star “absolutely, categorically and positively did not knock out anyone.”

The lawyers claim Revis did not commit ANY crime and add, “We have no doubt but that further investigation relative to the clothing and voice verification will corroborate the above assertions.”

So far, Revis is the only person involved in the incident charged with a crime.

In case you’ve been living under a rock over the last week or you despise the NFL (many people seem to these days), you’ve probably heard that New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis was charged with felony assault last week. Specifically, Revis was charged with two counts aggravated assault, one count making terroristic threats, one count robbery, and one count conspiracy to commit aggravated assault. The whole situation took place a week ago, Monday night, in the South Side of Pittsburgh when a couple of drunk kids approached Revis on the street. Apparently Revis quickly got annoyed by these kids and shoved one of them in the chest. Shortly after, one of the kids began filming him as they continued following Revis. That’s when Revis became even more agitated and threw the kid’s phone that was filming onto the street. At that point, one of Revis’s friends showed up and before you know it, two of the three kids got knocked out cold.

If you watch the video above, you’ll hear a man bragging about putting these two kids in an involuntary slumber. Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that Revis isn’t guilty of any (or all) of these crimes. What I am saying, though, is that this is 1,000% NOT Revis’s voice. As a Pittsburgh guy that’s been following Revis’s career ever since he whooped the shit out of my high school football team in the 2004 WPIAL AA championship game, I’ve heard this man interviewed hundreds of times. I’m definitely no voice recognition expert (actually I’m just an asshole that hates his full-time job and blogs about Pittsburgh sports and other dumb shit on the side), but Revis’s voice is waaaaayyyy deeper and laid back than this guy’s voice in the video. For anybody out there that knows Darrelle Revis, they know he’s calm and calculated. This dude in the video seems emotional and impulsive. I have no idea whether or not Revis knocked “both of these motherfuckers out,” but I’m damn sure he didn’t say it on this video.

It’s going to be hard for me to truly persuade you that this isn’t Revis’s voice considering I can identify his voice purely from interviews, so I found a video clip of Revis mic’d up in a game from 2011.

As you can tell, when Revis gets fired up his voice is much deeper than the guy’s voice in the knockout video. I might sound batshit crazy, but I think Revis has a legitimate argument here. I wouldn’t be surprised one bit if he gets a few of these charges dropped. If the man is smart enough to hire an agent that can persuade a team to give him a five-year contract with $39 million guaranteed at the dinosaur age of 29, then I’m sure he’s smart enough to hire attorneys capable of getting him out of this legal mess.

If Revis needs to be smarter about one thing in his life, it’s that he needs to get the fuck out of the South Side. Nothing good ever happens at that place at night. Maybe stick to art museums instead, weirdo.
